Description

With “Picopresso”, there are no shortcuts. Each user must master the art of manual brewing by dialing in the correct grind size, tamping the ground coffee and perfecting their pulling technique. However, these efforts are ultimately rewarded with an authentic, high-quality espresso that can rival drinks prepared by high-end machines. Unlike the Nanopresso, the Picopresso doesn’t come with an add-on kit that allows the use of single-serve coffee capsules, such as those that would be used in a Nespresso machine. The Flair Neo is a beginner-friendly lever espresso machine in a similar price range as the Picopresso. It uses a pressurized basket that ensures that you’ll get decent espresso regardless of your grind size. The standout feature is that it has an actual espresso basket inside, which can be used “bottomless,” meaning that your shots will look like they came out of a proper espresso machine in a hipster coffee shop. Wacaco Picopresso Accessories Now this is a big change up from Wacaco's previous espresso brewers and makes a significant difference to the depth of flavor you can brew with the Picopresso. The filter basket is tapered so there will be a minimum dose that you can use, but it's really that maximum amount of coffee that you can dose to it being 20g that satisfies the double espresso brew ratio. You have that opportunity to benchmark the extraction of any coffee that you use on the Picopresso against that of an actual espresso machine. And that metal portafilter has two rubber disks as part of it.

Overall, no corners have been cut with all these accessories. It feels like quality all the way through. It looks a bit messy when all the accessories are spread out like that, but they everything fits neatly inside the case. Espresso qualityNext, we're going to leave the dosing ring on the porter filter while we apply the tamp. And in this way you'll discover it guarantees a flat and even tamp every time. A clever design on Wacaco's part and great for the user as it eliminates any issues with an inconsistent tamp. Picopresso is the most compact and pro-oriented of our portable espresso machines. This specialty coffee espresso machine features a naked portafilter, so users will see delicious creamy espresso flowing directly from a standard 52mm 18 grams stainless steel filter basket during the brewing process. The Uniterra Nomad is also not the most portable device, though it is smaller and lighter than the Flair. It puts that heft to good use by looking like a little piece of metal art sitting on your desk while cranking out an excellent, creamy espresso. With the water chamber lid on, twist the pump to release it and then with that brewer over the top of your cup, begin pumping.

Wacaco Picopresso review | TechRadar

The Wacaco Picopresso costs more than many other portable espresso machines, including the brand’s older models. However, that extra expense is worth it for the thoughtfully designed, capable machine that pulls authentic espresso.

Ever wondered what your favourite coffee would taste like if it was brewed by a professional barista? You won’t have to wonder anymore: now you can brew it yourself at home (or even on the go!) with “Picopresso”, the most compact and professional of the portable espresso machines produced by Wacaco. The Picopresso really is a portable coffee maker, measuring just 4.17 x 3.07 x 2.8 inches / 10.6 x 7.8 x 7.1cm (h x w x d) and weighing 0.77lb / 350g. As such, it’s no chore to slip this into your bag each day. It’s smaller and more compact than Wacaco’s previous hand-pump espresso maker, the Nanopresso.

Wacaco Picopresso portable espresso machine review

The first you can pump here and it will funnel the espresso you brew into a single stream into your cup, but you can also easily remove this to then expose the bottom of that filter basket for a naked view of the espresso as it extracts out. Now, you could be watching for areas of improvements here or you could just be watching because it looks so damn tasty. And that second cap is used to place the Picopresso on after brewing so it catches all the drips. How To Brew Espresso With The Wacaco Picopresso The Picopresso provides an enjoyable quality focus process using current tools of the trade to brew a standard Double Espresso. Its clever pump design makes it both super compact and lightweight for an espresso brewer as well as durable enough that it's ready for just about any adventure. Now, you can shop the full range of Wacaco products, including the Wacaco Picopresso. But now let's jump straight in and explore the full potential of this promising brewer. However, if you have a small kitchen or want to dip your toes into the espresso world, it could also be worth considering.

BREW LIKE A PRO

I’m impressed that the Wacaco Picopresso can produce such high-quality espresso even though it’s so tiny and innocent looking. As we mentioned earlier, the Picopresso brew emblematic creamy shots with rich crema. For drink quality alone, this is remarkable given the price. On those terms, it represents incredible value for money. Wacaco Picopresso Vs Wacaco Nanopresso
