Far worse than shame is grieving a loved one and having a friend avoid speaking up for the sake of avoiding their own discomfort.

I asked some questions and there wasn’t a lot of information at that time, but the news that our friend’s mom has unexpectedly passed away had shaken us to our core. These were people who wanted to be there for me or say the right thing, but didn’t know how to do it. We all have someone in our lives that make even the worst places feel like home whenever he or she is around.It’s one of the most jarring experiences to go through whether you’re experiencing loss yourself or watching someone you love go through the grieving process. Above all, though, thank you for letting your home be my second; while also molding my best friend, and myself included, into the women we are today.
