About this deal

We also have a burgeoning relationship with Almond and Joss from her therapy group - I felt like they fell in love too instantly for it to be truly realistic but it was cute.

stars because everything I have said is really positive because I do think this book is a really good and important read but I have got some really mixed feelings about this book because I like it and the point it is just trying to make but than I am just getting bored at time and I really loved it in the middle but I thought it had a really slow start and thought the ending was a bit slow. Hotjar sets this cookie to know whether a user is included in the data sampling defined by the site's daily session limit. Amara fearlessly tackles topics such as deepfakes, AI, bullying, self-harm, controlling parenting, and mental health, shedding light on the darker side of the online world. And the ending made me very happy, especially with Immy and how they were still there fo her after all she's done.Polly Crosby tells ReadingZone about her novel, This Tale is Forbidden (Scholastic), a fractured fairy tale set in a dystopian world. And diving into Almond’s personal life, that even though everything looks perfect through a screen, you can have so much more going on than people realise. On the one hand, they are fun and make our lives easier, but on the other hand, they have made our world 100% more superficial.

Almond’s relationship with her mother, Eve, is both compelling and complex, showcasing the intricate dynamics that can exist within an influencer family. It would be a fantastic book club book for senior school as it would generate great discussion opportunities. Almond is such an easy to love character, and I found myself relating to her more than I thought I would. Ross Welford introduces Time Travelling with a Tortoise, the sequel to Time Travelling with a Hamster, and a whole new time travel adventure! I highly recommend picking up this YA debut, regardless of your age, as so many issues are dealt with within this book, my other recommendation maybe a box of tissues nearby as some of the content was pretty emotional, and brought tears to my eyes, but then on the next page I was crying with laughter at the sheer craziness of Almond, Heather and Joss. She had issues with her self-esteem, her family, her friendships, aspects of herself that were real and not, her excoriation… and despite her flaws Heather and Joss (and Honey the dog) were by her side when it mattered most.
